“Alien Sun” juxtaposes a highly textured dark sky – made using a mixture of black a metallic blue – and a flat, red-hot sun. It was inspired by Magritte’s paintings that mix a nighttime landscape with a midday sky. Here, too, a warm sun is out of place in the middle of a night sky, which both enhances its warmth due to the contrast, but also highlights its inability to penetrate the darkness.
